Accepting American Express Credit Cards

Authorize.Net supports American Express credit cards. However, your ability to accept American Express depends on how your payment processing system is configured.
 

To start accepting American Express, complete the two steps below.

1. Confirm with Your Merchant Service Provider (MSP)

Your Merchant Service Provider (MSP) is the financial institution that manages your merchant account and deposits your funds.

• Contact your MSP and ask if American Express is enabled for your account.

• If it is not, request that they activate American Express as an accepted card type.

2. Update Your Authorize.Net Account Settings

After your MSP has enabled American Express:

1. Log in to your Authorize.Net Merchant Interface.

2. Go to your payment method settings.

3. Enable American Express as an accepted card type.

Final Check

When both your MSP and your Authorize.Net account are updated, your system will be correctly configured to process American Express transactions.
